What is Frogcore?
Well, where do we start? It rhymes with ’24’ y’know! In a nutshell, that is how this project saw the light of day!
Frogcore is an aesthetic trend centered on frogs and toads. It originally gained popularity on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Over time the trend has evolved from frogs being an integral part of internet culture to becoming a popular aesthetic trend.
Frogs have been a part of internet culture for years, with iconic memes like Pepe the Frog and Kermit eternally popular. More recently, people have seen frogs as cute and wholesome (hmmn, yummy!), often inspiring art genres such as Kawaii.
I discovered the wonderful world of #frogcore after experimenting with prompts in Midjourney to create a particular artistic style. And I assure you, it wasn’t about frogs!
A fork in the road
But these forks in the road make life so much more fun. After brushing up on the whole subject of #-Core prompt modifiers, it was just a short jump to #Frogcore. And the mental gymnastics needed to get from #Frogcore to #Frogcore24 was even less intellectually challenging! And that was the start of something big!
After many experiments in Midjourney trying to get the right pose and details, I arrived at the perfect Amazonian ‘treefrog’.
But what puts the icing on the cake is that in France, they call the English “Rosbif” (Roast Beef). Therefore, it’s a little tip of the hat to those anachronistic stereotypes, and at the same time, a back-handed compliment, admitting that I am proud to consider myself (almost) more frog to the core than beef!
And for my next trick —”Hardcore” 🙂
