This makes me laugh and sad in equal measures. “Think about recycling” it says, “For the planet” … it says, with instructions to jettison their metalised plastic bag directly into the trash. Not sure how that helps the planet to be honest.
One could say that they —Carrefour in this instance, but there are many others— are just doing what is legally required and following guidelines by stating that parts of their packaging can be recycled (or not!).
Yes, it’s a generic section applied across all products, but it smacks a bit of a large multinational enterprise paying lip-service to the rules applying to recycling but at the same time, exhibiting a “We could but we really can’t be bothered” attitude to developing product packaging that is recyclable or biodegradable. Land-fills are so yesterday. Come on Big Corp, get with it!
